Pardubice District – Culture, landscapes and special excursions

Pardubice District combines impressive cultural monuments with river landscapes, nature reserves and routes for varied excursions. The confluence of the Elbe and Chrudimka rivers is located in Pardubice. Pardubice Castle is a Renaissance castle; its preserved remains can still be visited. Culture between Pardubice, Kunětická hora and Kladruby

Routes, water and nature reserves

The surroundings can also be explored on foot. A red-marked hiking trail from Přelouč to Kladruby nad Labem passes the Slavíkovy Islands and the Semín Aqueduct. A yellow-marked hiking trail runs from Stéblová to Kunětická hora near the Baroch Nature Reserve. Baroch is an ornithological site where you can encounter common and rare bird species. A grazing reserve is also home to buffalo and wild horses.

Bohdanečský Pond is designated as a national nature reserve. It protects aquatic, wetland and forest ecosystems around the pond, including wet meadows, reed beds, alder carrs, willow stands and oak forests. The reserve is accessible only via marked paths. By contrast, a bird-watching site on the Polákov Peninsula is accessible without restriction. The Pardubice gingerbread tradition, which dates back to the 16th century, is part of the region’s identity. Near Kunětická hora, Perníková chaloupka houses a gingerbread museum and fairy-tale attractions.
