Jankovice is located about 4 kilometres southwest of Přelouč, below the Železné hory. A preserved series of postcards entitled “Greetings from Jankovice” shows the school, the village square and the hill towards Litožice, now Litošice.

In memory of 28 October 1918, lime trees were planted in all three districts of Jankovice – Jankovice, Kozašice and Seník. In the eastern part of Jankovice, there is also the “Jankovický mlýn” mill on the right bank of the Senický potok. The lime trees stand in all three districts, while the mill is located in the eastern part of Jankovice.

The history of the mill goes back even further in the written records. The land register of this estate mentions a miller named Jiřík in Jankovice in 1494. This historical perspective is complemented by the “KŘÍŽEK-JANKOVICE” cross, erected in 1878. Visitors who prefer exploring individual traces rather than a long list of attractions will find various periods and themes within the village. The mill record from 1494 therefore predates the cross from 1878; the two details mark two different stages in the village’s history.

Museum, cycling tour and pond

The agricultural museum in Jankovice was founded by a father and son from the Štajner family and contains old agricultural machinery. It therefore focuses clearly on the region’s working and everyday history.
