Mill History as a Visible Part of the Place

The Venkovská výstavní expozice presents the history of millers in Bukovina. Its entrance is located at the pond dam. The opening hours are particularly important for a visit: from April to September, the exhibition is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on both days. On weekdays, visits for school or other groups are possible by prior arrangement. Anyone wishing to plan an individual weekend visit therefore has a clearly defined time slot.

The history goes back a long way. A mill was built in the area of today's municipality of Bukovina as early as during the Hussite Wars. Three periods of history therefore meet in the history of the place: the mill from the time of the Hussite Wars, the reunions held since 1975, and the municipality's present-day function. Today, the mill serves the municipality as a multifunctional center. This historical development is also complemented by the Sjezdy rodáků a přátel obce Bukoviny, held since 1975. The reunions of local residents and friends of the municipality are therefore among the explicitly documented traditions of the place.

Water Exhibition with a Practical Approach

A second site is the “cesta vody” geo-exhibition, which was installed in Bukovina u Přelouče in autumn 2018. It describes the path of water and does not stop at a purely explanatory presentation: at the geo-exhibition, visitors can use water from a nearby pond to try out how the water cycle works. This creates an experience for families and other travel groups in which a natural process is conveyed through their own activity, without requiring an extensive program.

Those who prefer to take in the themes of the place while on the move can choose the “Výprava za mlynářským řemeslem.” It begins in Bukovina u Přelouče and leads for nearly 2 km through flat terrain. Alongside the exhibition and geo-exhibition, this provides a separate route option. The manageable distance and the explicitly flat terrain help you distinguish this option from longer hikes or routes with more pronounced elevation changes.
