Pravy Between Natural Surroundings and Local History

Pravy is a place for travelers who do not want to view connections with nature and history separately. Special landscape features lie in the northern part of the cadastral area, while the townscape recalls the former fortress and a carefully restored stone cross. This gives you a manageable selection of themes to help you decide whether Pravy is suitable for a trip involving nature observation, discoveries related to cultural history, or shared family moments.

Michnovka-Pravy and the Landscape North of the Settlement

The Michnovka–Pravy natural monument lies north of the settlement, beyond the D11, in the northern part of Pravy’s cadastral area. This precise location is important for orientation: the nature-related site is not simply generally associated with the town center but is tied to a clearly designated area north of the settlement. In addition, the Michnovka-Pravy Site of Community Importance has been designated with an area of 2.8234 ha.

Michnovka-Pravy comprises two small ponds without a natural outflow. The bodies of water are surrounded by deciduous woodland and an extensively managed orchard meadow. Here, having no outflow means that no natural drainage leads away from the ponds. The surroundings of the two bodies of water also include trees and meadow areas in the form of deciduous woodland and an orchard meadow.

Traces of the Former Fortress

Pravy’s history can be traced through the former fortress. After 1551, the fortress of Pravy belonged to Vojtěch z Perštejna, who incorporated the acquired estate into the Pardubice domain. The fortress fell into disrepair in the 16th century. Its former location was at the site of today’s house No. 17. Thus, the local history points not to a preserved castle complex but to a historic site within the present-day settlement.

The connection to Pardubice belongs to the history of ownership, while house No. 17 marks the present-day local reference point.

Another prominent reference point is a stone cross in Pravy. It dates from 1859 and was restored in 1903 and 2005. There were 102 years between the restorations of 1903 and 2005. From the year of construction, 1859, to the restoration in 2005, 146 years passed. A metal bell tower stands beside the stone cross. The cross is therefore younger than the fortress that fell into disrepair in the 16th century.

The cross complements the older fortress with a reference point from the 19th century. The metal bell tower stands beside the cross and therefore belongs to the same local area.

Pravy has a children’s playground for playing and sporting activities.

The transport situation is also part of the factual orientation: The D11 motorway crosses the cadastral area of Pravy. Public bus services in Pravy are provided by Veolia Transport Chrudim.
