Discover nature and choose your routes carefully

Čeřínek Nature Park was created to preserve wooded landscapes, distinctive geological formations and rare plant and animal species. The Čeřínek Educational Trail follows a 6.5-kilometre circular route with 14 stops through these themes. Along the way are the Skalní mísy, Mrazové sruby, Žlábkové škrapy and the Přední skála natural monument. The rocky outcrop there offers views across the park. A second nature option is the Zaječí skok Nature Reserve, where the rare rock fern grows.

The Pojmannova Trail is also laid out as a clearly described circular route: it runs for 6.5 kilometres from Polná to Kukle Pond and back and is marked with a yellow hiking symbol. The route follows the forest by Kukle Pond and continues through the Obecní les municipal forest. Breaks are possible at the Doubravník rest area and at the covered seating area on the dam of Kukle Pond. Those who prefer to travel by bicycle can choose Městem s ježkem – modrá, a 10-kilometre circular route suitable for children that follows the Jihlava River to the Český mlýn Sports and Leisure Centre.

Museums, a castle and distinctive interiors

In Jihlava, the historic underground tour through Jihlavské podzemí lasts 30 to 40 minutes. The tour begins at the underground ticket office at Hluboká 1. The guided tours are not wheelchair accessible; this restriction should therefore be taken into account when choosing your visit. The Muzeum Vysočiny Jihlava presents the development from the Renaissance to the Industrial Revolution in its permanent exhibition “Jihlava – město střední Evropy”. The first floor of the museum is step-free.

The Třešť Museum offers its own cultural and historical perspective. It presents vanished industries of the region and explains the importance of the Schumpeter family to the town. Exhibits include paper and wooden nativity scenes, miniature figures and figures with heads made of bread dough. During the winter months, Třešť’s Betlémská cesta opens its family nativity scenes. On another excursion to Roštejn Castle, the seven-sided tower offers views of the surrounding landscape. The visit can also be combined with a walk through the forest and a small geological exhibition near the entrance to the Roštejnská obora.

Water, regional history and the rhythm of excursions

In summer, Vodní Ráj offers outdoor pools and children’s paddling pools with an 85-metre slide, a water castle, a wild-water channel and aquazorbing. The indoor area is open year-round and includes, among other things, a 108-metre slide, a wild-water channel, a whirlpool, massage jets, waterfalls, a sauna and a steam room. This means that a stay in the Jihlava District can also be supplemented with a day of water and wellness without repeating the destination’s nature and cultural themes.

Jihlava’s history of everyday life and enjoyment also includes the beers Märzbier, Altbier and Grandbier. In Telč, the museum presents the long-term exhibition “Křehká krása rašelinišť”, which is divided into three sections. At the Stříbrný dům, a guided indoor tour presents equipment from a royal mint that was found in the courtyard during renovation work.
