Discover Rančířov

Rančířov combines sacred architectural history, an unusual structure, historical evidence of mining and a connection to former military ponds. The village thus offers various points of interest for a trip in which cultural history and landscape stand side by side on equal terms. The Church of St. Peter and Paul is particularly striking and is considered the largest monument in the municipality of Rančířov.

Church, Statues and a Special Interior

The foundations of the Church of St. Peter and Paul date back to the second half of the 13th century. The history of the church therefore reaches far back, although its significance is not limited to its age alone. There is also a statue of Saint Joseph on the main road in Rančířov.

Inside the church there is now a statue that was restored by Josef Moravec in 2009. The hrádek of Josef Moravec

Another cultural detail is the hrádek of Josef Moravec, which is described as an interesting structure in Rančířov. The hrádek contains restored ceilings from houses reconstructed in the historic built-up area of Jihlava. The building therefore stands not only on its own, but also points to historic houses and their preserved structural elements. Its connection to Jihlava gives this site an additional urban-planning and craftsmanship dimension, without requiring a larger collection or a specific visitor program.

Mining History along the Jihlávka

The landscape around Rančířov is also associated with a long history of use. Mining was probably already carried out in the Rančířov area from the second half of the 13th century on the slopes along the right bank of the Jihlávka stream. The cautious wording is essential here: it forms part of the traditional interpretation of this early mining history.

The Rančířovský Les and Eisenhammer area is also called V Ráji. Eleven shafts are recorded there on a plan from 1781 and on a mining map from the 19th century.

Route and Former Military Ponds

A route leads from Sasov toward Rančířov and from there turns toward the Okrouhlík recreational area. This route connects the place name Rančířov with another destination in the surrounding area, without specifying a particular means of transport or duration. Fishing is possible at the former military ponds in Rančířov in accordance with local fishing regulations.
