Cerekvička: Jihlávka Valley and Cultural Heritage

Cerekvička is a destination for travelers who want to discover a small Czech locality through its landscape, local architectural heritage, and practical orientation. The Jihlávka runs along the western boundary of the Cerekvička cadastral area. In the northern part, the Rosický potok joins it, while cultural sites in Cerekvička-Rosice and along the surrounding roads add their own distinctive accents. When choosing accommodation, it is therefore particularly relevant whether you want to focus on the valley landscape, local culture, or information about hiking and cycling routes.

The Jihlávka, Rosický potok, and the valley

The Jihlávka runs along the western boundary of the Cerekvička cadastral area. The Rosický potok flows through Cerekvička and, in the northern part of the cadastral area, joins the Jihlávka from the right. The Jihlávka Valley lies there at an elevation of 532 m above sea level. Podvesní Pond is located near Cerekvička.

Cultural heritage in Cerekvička-Rosice

The focal point among the local architectural landmarks is the Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Cerekvička-Rosice. It is a small brick chapel with vernacular Classical forms dating from 1840, and thus from the 19th century. The door lintel also bears the year 1840. At the same time, the Chapel of the Virgin Mary forms a prominent landmark on the village square.

Further historical details can be found along the roads around Rosice. The wayside shrine in Rosice dates from the 18th century and stands approximately 200 meters northwest of the village on the road to Čížov. There is also a fragment of a wayside shrine on the road from Cerekvička to Vílanec, bearing the engraved year 1789. On the Jihlávka, a former mill is now known as Motorest Mlýn. The name explicitly preserves its former character as a mill, without saying anything about its current operation.

Orientation with Stříbrné pomezí

Cerekvička-Rosice took part in the “Stříbrné pomezí” project, a tourist information system designed to promote tourism and improve tourist information services. Information boards with overview maps, local information, and references to local attractions were installed along the project routes in the participating municipalities. This is particularly relevant for trip planning because landscape and cultural information is brought together within a specific orientation system.

As part of “Stříbrné pomezí,” 270 km of hiking and cycling routes were marked; approximately 12 km of them ran in the vicinity of Jihlava. This figure describes the scope of the project and the area around Jihlava, not a specific route length within Cerekvička. When choosing accommodation, you can therefore distinguish between a direct connection to the locality and landscape and broader orientation through the project.
