Rantířov combines landscapes, mining history and local culture. Marked trails, the Jihlava Valley, historic sites and local events give the town a variety of facets.

Trails, Ponds and the Jihlava Valley

The 5 km circular trail “Around 5 Ponds” begins at Rantířov railway station and leads through the surroundings of several ponds. Several marked hiking trails also pass through Rantířov, making it possible to explore the town along signposted routes.

For cyclists, a route from Rantířov to Cejle is described. It runs along the Jihlava River and follows the red-marked hiking trail. The Damle area on the western edge of Rantířov also offers a safe cycling connection to Jihlava.

The Zaječí skok Nature Reserve lies between Rantířov and Jihlava. It can be reached from Rantířov via the red-marked hiking trail. The protected area includes steep gneiss rocks in the Jihlava Valley that are 170 metres long and 30 metres high. The protected status has been in place since 1933. When there is sufficient snow, cross-country ski tracks are also prepared as far as Jihlava. This option remains expressly dependent on snow conditions.

Silver Mining, a Mill and Theatre

Silver mining in the surrounding area was an important reason for the historic settlement of Rantířov. This history can be followed on an excursion from Rantířov to Rounek: the route leads to a medieval mining site that recalls the silver mining in Jihlava.

Another special destination is Pekelský mlýn Mill in the valley of the Jihlava River. It was completely renovated within three years and fitted with new technology, including a new turbine. Since 1993, it has once again served its original purpose. When choosing a place to stay, the mill is therefore particularly interesting as an independent cultural and historical point of reference.

Cultural life also remains present in Rantířov. Theatre performances take place at Maštali, including performances by amateur actors from Rantířov. Thus, in addition to trails, the river valley and mining history, local theatre offerings are also available.

Sport and Local Traditions

Regular events include a table tennis tournament held in Rantířov every spring, usually in March or April. A tournament at 2 p.m. was listed for 25 April 2026. The date has already passed, but its recurring classification as a spring tournament remains the relevant indication of the type of event.

The “Ranťan Race 2025” event is also part of the local history of more recent events. It was an obstacle race for children and adults in Rantířov. A traditional Masopust carnival with a masked gathering and a procession opened by the mayor was also announced for 21 February 2026. Since this date has also passed, it should be understood as a documented announcement rather than a current event notice.
