Cycling Routes, Ponds and Rural History in Mysletice

Mysletice combines several very different ways to explore the surrounding area: cycling routes pass through the village, ponds shape individual landscapes, and historic structures as well as local minor monuments have been preserved in the village centre. This allows you to plan your stay according to your interests – with a longer cycling tour, a path through forest and hilly terrain, or a walk through the village. Those who want to combine different types of excursions will find cycling routes, paths over hills and through forests, as well as destinations by the water and in the village centre, all in the same place.

Cyclists will find several routes in Mysletice with different courses. Cycling route 5021 runs through Mysletice between Olší and Kostelní Myslová. A 20 km connection from Roštejn to Kostelní Myslová bears route number 5021. The “Around Javořice for Experienced Cyclists” route leads through Mysletice and hilly terrain with long climbs and fast descents. As an additional excursion route, “Along the Mrákotín Granite Route” passes through the village.

Ponds and Paths Through the Landscape

The bodies of water also add different accents. Macků Pond is a fishing area. Nový rybník lies on the eastern cadastral boundary of Mysletice; its shore features wetlands and waterfowl. The two ponds are therefore specific landscape features that play a role when exploring the village.

Several paths lead from Mysletice through the landscape. One path from Mysletice leads over the summit of Hora at 664 metres above sea level. Beyond Olší, the path from Mysletice joins a blue-marked tourist trail running westwards. Another path from Mysletice runs through the forest. The path over Hora and the path through the forest begin in Mysletice; the blue-marked trail only joins them beyond Olší. The paths differ in their relationship to the landscape: one leads to a 664-metre-high summit, while another runs through the forest.

Village Centre and Minor Cultural Monuments

In the village centre, Mysletice preserves the original layout of farmsteads around the village square. The original parcel division and the preserved ground plan of the buildings have also been retained. The historic centre of Mysletice includes not only the bell tower but also the arrangement of farmyards, plots and buildings around the village square. The bell tower stands on the village square next to a general store; it was renovated recently. For a walk through the village, the stone cross by the road towards Telč is also noteworthy. It is a religious minor monument of local significance and stands between two mature trees.

Other individual destinations complete the picture of the surrounding area. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary stands on the forested summit of Lopata Hill. In Mysletice, paths through forest and hilly terrain thus meet visible evidence of the village’s history and religious minor monuments at specific locations.
