Řídelov – Protected Area, Moorland and Baroque Culture

Řídelov is a destination for travelers who would like to combine observing nature with small cultural discoveries. Its diverse natural attractions include both the Lukšovská protected area and the Bažantka moorland; at the same time, a Baroque wayside shrine, an old mill and a local event tell of different facets of the place. The Lukšovská protected area lies in the Řídelov cadastral territory, approximately 1.5 km north of Řídelov. It protects wet spruce forests and alder stands along streams. Bažantka reveals another botanical aspect. Its wetland vegetation includes round-leaved sundew (Drosera rotundifolia), bogbean (Menyanthes trifoliata) and broad-leaved marsh orchid (Dactylorhiza majalis). The Bažantka moorland is a transition and valley bog. Moorland vegetation and protected woodland areas thus complement each other as two different natural landscapes.

Water, Paths and a Designated Swimming Area

Water is also one of the themes around Řídelov. Malý pařezitý rybník is designated as a swimming area; the municipality of Řídelov is listed as its operator. The designation describes the approved use, but says nothing about any additional services or current occupancy. The Mirošovská studánka spring is located in the Řídelov cadastral territory. A path suitable for bicycles leads to the spring. The Roštejnská route also passes through Řídelov.

South of Řídelov stands a stone Baroque wayside shrine of the boží muka type, dated to 1817. Here, the Czech term refers to the traditional building type; the stone construction, Baroque design and specific year 1817 are decisive for its classification. Another historical trace is the local Drdák mill. It was one of the largest and oldest mills in the surrounding area.

An event is also associated with the place: the 22nd edition of Dálková doprava vody took place in Řídelov.
