Hladov, Hubenov and the History of the Place

The old settlement associated with Hubenov probably originated through German colonization. In 1366, it was mentioned as Hladov, and in Latin documents as Steindorf. Its original inhabitants engaged in livestock grazing. Later, the pasture farms Hladov (Starý Hubenov) and Hubenov (Nový Hubenov) came into the possession of Želiv Monastery.

The ownership history continued in 1599: Albrecht z Ratibořic sold the village of Hladov and the Hubenov farm to the city of Jihlava. The property remained in the hands of Jihlava's citizens until 1848. For a stay focused on regional history, these changes in names and ownership are particularly informative, as they show Hubenov not only as a landscape destination but also as a historically developed connection between several settlement names.

Another local landmark is the monument to Antonín Novák. It stands at the Jedlov–Nový Hubenov crossroads in the Starý Hubenov district. Together with the traditional names Hladov, Starý Hubenov and Nový Hubenov, this location provides a concrete point of reference for exploring the local history.
