Milíčov: Discover the Rundling and Cultural Monuments
Accommodation in Milíčov
Milíčov stands out for its almost perfectly circular shape as a Rundling. It also has a stone wayside shrine, a relief-decorated boundary stone, and a village square designated as an ensemble of buildings of local significance. The landscape offers other points of interest: the Milíčovský potok rises in the village, while the Na Oklice nature reserve lies within the municipality. Settlement form, cultural monuments, and natural surroundings thus come together as distinct themes.
The Rundling and Village History
Milíčov has the form of an almost perfectly circular Rundling. This shape draws attention to the layout of the entire village and differs from the focus on individual monuments. Settlement probably began in the 13th century, so the village’s history dates back to the Middle Ages. The village square also helps place it in its historical context: it is designated as an ensemble of buildings of local significance. This allows two scales to be considered—the village’s almost circular form and the group of buildings around the village square.
Wayside Shrine and Boundary Stone
At a crossroads in Milíčov on the way to Hojkov stands a stone wayside shrine, which is protected as a cultural monument. The wayside shrine (boží muka) has been listed as a monument since 3 May 1958.
Another roadside marker stands north of Milíčov, on a field track leading toward Jankov: the protected boundary stone. It is a sturdy, rectangular stele with rounded upper corners. On the front, a cross pattée stands out in raised relief. Comparable examples allow it to be dated to the late Middle Ages or early modern period. The wayside shrine and boundary stone offer different historical perspectives: the shrine’s location and listing date provide a point of reference, while the boundary stone’s form, relief, and cautious dating shape the impression it makes.
Nature in the Municipality
The Milíčovský potok rises right in Milíčov, making it a local landscape feature. Na Oklice, by contrast, is located at the municipal level: the nature reserve lies within the municipality of Milíčov, in the cadastral area of Milíčov u Jihlavy, in the Jihlava District and the Vysočina Region—not in the village itself.
Protected habitats include near-natural transitional mires, montane Nardus grasslands, and wet marsh thistle meadows. There is also vegetation resembling secondary montane heathland, with scattered trees and shrubs, as well as stands supporting significant plant and animal species. Together, these protected features reflect a variety of different habitat types within the municipality.
