The Church of the Holy Trinity

The Church of the Holy Trinity is a late Renaissance church dating from 1605. In 1665, it was dedicated to the Holy Trinity. Its present appearance reflects several phases of alteration: changes were made in the third quarter of the 17th century, at the beginning of the 18th century, and again in 1888. The church was restored in 1998 and 2007. This gives the building a history spanning several centuries rather than being limited to a single period of construction.

The parish church is a single-nave, oriented building with a polygonal termination of the presbytery. This clear basic form complements the eventful architectural history with a feature you can look out for when viewing the church. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk also stands in the church’s vicinity. It is registered as protected cultural heritage, bears registration number 29619/7-5411, and has been protected since 4 January 1973.

Cemetery and Small-Scale Structures

The cemetery around the Church of the Holy Trinity was established in 1720. Three cemetery chapels contribute to its distinctive appearance. All three have square floor plans and hipped roofs covered with wooden shingles. Thus, the sacred area offers not only the large parish church as a cultural and historical landmark, but also smaller structures with clearly recognizable individual designs.

For orientation on site, the entrances are arranged differently: a pedestrian entrance is located at the southwestern corner of the cemetery. Approximately halfway along the eastern boundary wall is an access gate.

The church tower offers sweeping views of the surrounding area. The tower is currently not regularly open to the public. Location and Getting There

Vysoké Studnice is located 10 km east of Jihlava on the old road to Brno. The road connection is also good in winter. In addition, there is an adequate bus service to Vysoké Studnice on weekdays, while only a few buses run at weekends. When choosing accommodation, it is therefore particularly relevant which days you plan to travel and how you intend to get around. Those planning to travel by bus on weekdays will face a different situation from travelers visiting at the weekend.
