Nadějov between village chapels and wet meadows

Nadějov presents two distinctly different sides: cultural and historical traces in the village and a permanently waterlogged floodplain with several constructed water bodies. Those exploring the village therefore encounter both chapels in the village landscape and the landscape of the Nadějovské nivy. Two religious buildings stand at different locations in the village, while the floodplain is characterised by its wet areas, bodies of water and proximity to the Nadějovský potok. Nadějov consequently has a village landscape in which architectural history and a waterscape stand side by side.

Two chapels, two stories

The Chapel of Saint Florian is located in Nadějov’s village square and dates from the 19th century. It is listed as a cultural monument. The village square is therefore home to a building characterised by its historical period of construction and its listing as a cultural monument.

The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas stands on the road to Věžnice. It was built in 1929 at the expense of the Skryjový family and is privately owned. Its location distinguishes it from the village square, the site of the Chapel of Saint Florian; its year of construction and ownership status are also different. The two chapels therefore differ not only in their position within the village landscape, but also in their chronological classification and ownership.

The waterscape of the Nadějovské nivy

The Nadějovské nivy are a permanently waterlogged floodplain near a right-bank tributary of the Nadějovský potok, below the Obecní rybník. The landscape area is therefore characterised by permanently wet areas, proximity to the tributary and its location below the pond. In 2012, six ponds were excavated there. These ponds form a separate part of this landscape area, created in 2012. The landscape area thus includes various forms of water bodies: six ponds and smaller water areas for amphibians, aquatic beetles and other organisms within the floodplain.

In addition, several small water areas were created for amphibians, aquatic beetles and other organisms. Alongside the six ponds, smaller water bodies therefore form part of the landscape area, with their purpose explicitly linked to these groups of organisms. The additional areas complement the ponds with another component of the floodplain focused on specific organisms.

Orientation for travel and stays

The Vysočina regional public transport system operates a bus stop named “Nadějov” in fare zone 23. In addition, the route “67 nedělní SV odpo okruh” passes through Nadějov. The village’s transport network therefore includes both a stop with a fare-zone designation and an individual route passing through the village. These are two different reference points for orientation: in one case the stop itself, and in the other the route passing through Nadějov.
