The chapel and bell tower as local history
The Chapel of St. Anne is a clear landmark in the local history. It was built in 1837; the wooden bell tower beside it was erected on April 16, 2025. The two dates provide a contrast in time for a culturally focused visit to the village: the chapel dates from the 19th century, while the tower was added in 2025. The two structures stand side by side, but belong to distinctly different periods. Their histories can therefore be considered separately, while visiting the same place.
Cycling the Jihlava–Třebíč–Raabs route
For touring cyclists, Velký Beranov is a stop on the Jihlava–Třebíč–Raabs route. Information about the route’s character applies to the route as a whole: about one third is developed as a cycle path, and most of these sections can also be used by inline skaters. The route runs mostly away from main roads, usually along field and forest tracks or traffic-calmed roads. This means it is not developed as a cycle path throughout, and the information about inline skating applies to most developed cycle-path sections—not automatically to every type of path.
If you are planning a specific leg through Velký Beranov, follow the route itself and check current conditions before setting off. The types of paths mentioned give an overview of the character of the entire route, but do not replace planning for an individual day’s leg.
Cultural centre and pilgrimage programme
The municipality’s cultural life includes a cultural centre with a dance hall, a function room and other facilities. It offers residents opportunities to take part in cultural activities. This is a different perspective on Velký Beranov from that of the chapel: here, the focus is on spaces for community cultural life, while the chapel is a religious building with a specific historical date.
A municipal newsletter from the third quarter of 2013 described the sports and children’s day during the Beranov pilgrimage as an annual event organised by TJ. For that year, it gives the date as Saturday, July 27. This is a historical date, not a current event announcement. If you would like to include an event in your stay, check the latest event dates.
