Prague-West District combines impressive cultural experiences with trails through forests, parklands, and along the Vltava. The most prominent attraction is Průhonice Park: it is a Czech national monument and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Průhonice Park: parkland and trails

Průhonice Park offers 25 km of trails and combines landscapes, historic views, and ponds. You can explore it with a paper map or the SmartGuide app; guided tours can also be booked. This allows you to tailor your visit in different ways: you can discover the trails independently or plan a guided tour as a separate cultural activity. The park is especially distinctive as a destination when you want to combine nature and history within a single outing.

The Skalka Stations of the Cross complex is also a clearly defined visitor destination. The Stations of the Cross comprise 14 chapels and are freely accessible year-round. The baroque Skalka complex hosts weddings, exhibitions, concerts, and other cultural events. The site's history spans several periods: after 1762, Skalka became a pilgrimage site, and from the late 19th century onward it also developed into a tourist destination.

Hiking between Řevnice, Jílové, and the Vltava

For longer walks, the Svatojánské proudy nature trail offers a specific route: it starts in Štěchovice and follows the wooded banks of the Vltava for 9 km to Třebenice. Another option is the easy circular trail near Jílové, which follows part of the Jílovské vyhlídky nature trail. From Prague, Jílové u Prahy can be reached by direct buses that run several times an hour.

Another hike leads from Řevnice to Skalka. The route passes the Lesní divadlo, runs through deciduous forest, and allows for a detour to Babka. At the same time, the route offers views of the surrounding Brdy forests. These different trail profiles can help you choose where to stay: you can combine a starting point with a specific hike or combine several cultural and scenic destinations during a longer stay.

Castles, beer culture, and excursions by the water

Mníšek pod Brdy Castle showcases representative salons from the First Republic. A second tour focuses on the aristocracy's private rooms and daily life. The castle tours also include the roof structures and towers with views. Lavender and flowers grow in the castle park, which also features fountains. This means the visit offers different ways to explore history: the representative rooms, private living spaces, architectural elements of the castle, and the park can each take center stage.

The local brewing tradition can also be experienced firsthand. Pivovar Řevnice is located in a former railway station building that was converted into a brewery. The former waiting room is used as a taproom with classic railway benches. Traditional Czech cuisine is served, and Řevnická 10° and Řevnická 12° are brewed there. Brewery experiences include a day with the brewer and a home-brewing course. Pivovar Řevnice is located directly next to Řevnice railway station. At Pivovar Kytín, an open brewhouse is located on the ground floor of the restaurant.

For an excursion centered on the water, Slapy Reservoir is a destination in its own right. Swimming, relaxing on the beach, and excursions into the surrounding landscape are all possible there. If you prefer visiting historic ruins, you can choose the Okoř castle ruins as a destination for tourists and cyclists. Okoř can be reached by car or public transportation. The options therefore range from a hike through forest and river landscapes, through castle culture, to a stay by the reservoir.
