Chýnice lies at an elevation of 320 metres, around the Chýnický potok stream, on the edge of the Český kras Protected Landscape Area. A cycling route passes through the village to Karlštejn; furnaces used for smelting iron ore were discovered near Srbů. These different themes give your travel planning a clear direction: should the landscape, a cycling trip or a glimpse into history shape your stay?

Landscape on the edge of Český kras

Its elevation of 320 metres and the Chýnický potok stream give Chýnice a distinct connection to its landscape. The village also lies on the edge of the Český kras Protected Landscape Area. If the surroundings matter when choosing a destination, you can consider Chýnice as a possible place to stay. This lets you choose your base according to the interests that matter for your trip.

Cycling the Praha–Karlštejn route

The Praha–Karlštejn cycling route runs from Praha-Stodůlky through Řeporyje, Ořech, Prostřední Mlýn and Chýnice to Kuchař, Trněný Újezd and Mořina, and continues to Karlštejn. It is 22 kilometres long overall and described as easy. Both details refer to the entire route, not necessarily to a chosen section. If you plan to ride only part of it, check the specific conditions before setting out.

Archaeological and cultural points of interest

During sewer works at farmstead No. 6 near Srbů, two iron ore smelting furnaces were discovered about one metre below ground level. The Beroun District Museum dated the find to the 13th century. It draws attention to medieval ironworking and adds a historical aspect to the landscape and cycling themes. In smelting, ore is processed in a furnace to extract metal; mining the raw material is a separate step.

A regional description last updated in 2014 places the White Horse figure from the Karlštejnské šachy project on the main road in front of the municipal office. The find near Srbů and the figure represent different cultural points of interest: one is a dated archaeological discovery, the other a motif from a named chess project.

Show jumping as another theme

The JK Dubeč Chýnice farm at Malém mlýně is described as specialising in show jumping. For equestrian sports enthusiasts, this adds a sporting perspective to the landscape and cultural attractions. If you are considering a visit or taking part, check the current options in advance. In show jumping, horse and rider navigate a course of obstacles. This requires careful line selection, controlled riding and good coordination when clearing the jumps.
