Hradištko: Educational Trails, Medník and Historic Traces

Hradištko Between Landscape and Remembrance

Those who choose Hradištko as a destination will find hiking trails, riverside nature and places of remembrance. The Vystěhované Hradištko educational trail runs for 8.5 km through the municipality of Hradištko and includes ten information stations. It is accessible year-round and suitable for hiking.

Hiking with History

The trail presents the history of the forced expulsion of the municipality’s population during the Second World War, the SS military training area, the concentration camp and the fates of several prisoners. This gives a walk through Hradištko a clearly recognizable historical dimension.

Another perspective is offered by the Sekanka, soutok, Ostrov a Kilián educational trail. It is an external part of the permanent exhibition of the Regional Museum in Jílové u Prahy and leads along ten stations around the remains of a fortified, vanished town. The information panels cover the results of archaeological research and virtual representations of medieval buildings. The Ora et labora exhibition at the Regional Museum in Jílové u Prahy focuses on the vanished medieval settlement at Hradišťko u Davle and shows 3D visualizations of the monastery in various stages of development. The archaeological investigations of Sekanka and Ostrov produced unique insights into medieval life and became an important milestone in Czech archaeology.

Paths Along the Sázava

There is also clear guidance for cyclists: Cycle Route 8199 passes through Hradištko. The Posázavská Trail was created by the Club of Czech Tourists and opened in 1920. Its final section runs close to the Sázava; from the Klimentova and Raisova viewpoints, you can see the river meanders. Early tramp settlements in the Posázaví region lie along the trail, including Arizona and Staré kamarády. The Láska za okupace route leads from the center of Hradištko through the forest to the Sázava and Petrov u Prahy railway station.

Medník: Natural Monument and Trail Stations

The Medník National Nature Monument lies in the cadastral area of Hradištko pod Medníkem. The site includes the wooded slopes of a hill with mining pits, as well as rocks on the left bank of the Sázava. It can be reached from the road via a walkable tourist trail. In the nature monument, visitors are advised to stay only on marked paths. The Medník educational trail includes play elements; below Malý Medník, there is a rest area at a viewpoint.

Cultural Sites and Different Highlights

Hradištko Chateau is also a partially accessible cultural monument. Its garden is enclosed by a wall with niche chapels forming a Stations of the Cross. Vystěhované Hradištko represents local remembrance, Sekanka and Ostrov archaeological traces, Medník protected landscape, and the Posázavská Trail paths with views and a regional hiking history.
