Kameny Privoz: Culture, Trails and the Sázava

Kameny Privoz combines sacred architecture, protected trails, the landscape along the Sázava and a vibrant local history. The history of the village also reaches far back and is reflected in buildings, historic routes and notable figures of the region.

St. Ludmila Church and protected cultural monuments

St. Ludmila Church was built and consecrated in 1681. The single-nave, rectangular Early Baroque building is one of the notable cultural features of Kamenný Přívoz. The complex includes a cemetery with a mortuary chapel, a Baroque gate, an enclosing wall and a staircase. The rectangular ground plan and single-nave layout define the building, while the gate, wall and staircase spatially complement the complex.

Another distinct destination is the Plavecká Way. It is a protected immovable cultural monument located in the municipality of Kamenný Přívoz and in the village district of Hostěradice. The prehistoric and historic Plavecká Way is also situated in the cadastral area of Hostěradice. Those interested in the connection between landscape and the past will find here a subject that extends beyond individual buildings. Its prehistoric and historic character establishes a different temporal focus from the Baroque church.

Trails along the Sázava

The Posázavská Route runs along the Sázava between Pikovice and Kamenný Přívoz and offers beautiful views along the way. The one-way branch of the Jílovské zlaté doly educational trail descends into the Sázava valley and ends in Kamenný Přívoz. The educational trail was established in 1988 as a supplement to the permanent exhibition of the Regional Museum in Jílové u Prahy. The two routes already differ in their layout: the Posázavská Route follows the Sázava between two places, while the one-way branch descends into the valley and ends in Kamenný Přívoz. When planning a day in the countryside, the desired direction of travel is therefore a specific difference.

Local history and regional memory

The Kamenný Přívoz stop with a goods loading facility is located on the four-kilometre-long connecting line from Požár, now Prosečnice, to Jílové. This line began operating on 22 September 1897. The writer Jan Morávek, who was born in Kamenný Přívoz and made the region’s characteristic landscape along the Sázava known through his work, is also part of the region’s collective memory. The historic line and the literary connection set two different accents: one points to the development of transport, while the other points to the landscape in regional literature.

The Sázava offers opportunities for boating, fishing and relaxation in the area around Kamenný Přívoz. These three options represent different ways of spending a day by the river: moving on the water, spending time fishing and relaxing without a fixed programme of activities.
