Trnová
Trnová Between Church History and Active Experiences
Trnová combines remarkable cultural history with horse-riding activities, cycling routes and nature experiences. If you choose accommodation in Trnová as the starting point for your trip, you can get to know the area not only as a place to stay overnight, but also as a diverse landscape to explore. Particularly characteristic are the church “Kostel sv. Ducha,” Chateau Trnová and Jezdecký Areál Trnová. There is also a children’s leisure area, a revitalized biotope and a direct bus connection from Prague.
Historical Traces Around Kostel sv. Ducha
The core of the church “Kostel sv. Ducha” dates from the first half of the 14th century. This early construction phase is indicated by a bricked-up Gothic portal in the north wall of the nave. However, the history of the building was not limited to the Middle Ages: the owner of Trnová, Františka Terezie Minetti, née Fritschmannová z Ehrenkronu, had Kostel sv. Ducha restored in 1720. A personal detail has also been preserved. The tombstone of the restorer remains in the floor of the nave to this day.
Another important historical landmark is Chateau Trnová. In 1994, the building was declared a national cultural monument by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
Horse Riding, Cycling and Discovering Nature
Jezdecký Areál Trnová offers several clearly described opportunities for equestrian sports. The facilities include indoor riding arenas measuring 20 × 50 m and 25 × 65 m, as well as a round arena with a diameter of 18 m. The riding facility also rents out riding-school ponies and horses for rides in the area around Cukrák and in the Brdy forests. Riding lessons are available up to the completion of the ZZVJ riding licence.
The area around Jezdecký Areál Trnová is suitable for relaxed rides through the woods, forests and meadows of the Vltava landscape. If you prefer to travel by bicycle, you can plan a tour through the village of Trnová and then continue onto the Mníšecko-Č. cycling route. The municipality maintains a page entitled “Cyklotrasy Mníšecko” with a section called “Cyklotrasy Trnová,” which is relevant for further orientation when cycling.
A Place for Different Day Plans
For families with children, the children’s leisure area “Dětské hřiště” is expressly intended for children aged 3 to 14. The Biotop pod krčmou offers a different focus: as part of the revitalization completed in 2021, the adjacent pond was also repaired and cleaned.
