Bojanovice combines a multifaceted history with a landscape in which the river environment, meadows and forest form a travel story of their own.

History and culture in the village

The history of Bojanovice dates back to 1107. It is recorded that, at that time, Prince Svatopluk donated the village to Ostrov Monastery near Davle. Bojanovice remained associated with this monastery until the Hussite Wars. In 1657, Abbot Matouš Ferdinand Zoubek of Billenberk reclaimed the village for the order. These stages make the changing relationship between the village and the monastery an important part of the local historical profile.

A distinctive landmark is the Chapel of Saint Francis Seraphicus of Assisi. It was completed in 1879 and is listed in the register of movable cultural monuments. Below the chapel, a monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars stands in the centre of the village. Anyone interested in the history of a place can include these sites as peaceful cultural discoveries during their stay.

The landscape along the Kocába

Bojanovice lies within the Kocába River catchment area. Several designated landscape features form part of the village’s natural character. The “V Kocábě” biocentre is a 3.03-hectare functional biocentre in the cadastral area of Bojanovice. The “V Kocábě” biocentre is considered a wet, flower-rich meadow along the Kocába River. For travellers who enjoy observing different types of landscape, this aspect offers an alternative perspective to the historic sites in the village.

The “Doubrava Hvozdy” biocentre is also part of the landscape. It is a functional forest biocentre; 1.39 hectares of it lie within the study area of Bojanovice. The open meadow landscape near the Kocába and the woodland character of “Doubrava Hvozdy” represent two different nature experiences, without implying a shared route or a specific distance between them.

Planning hikes and recreation

A blue-marked hiking trail runs through Bojanovice. In addition, designated local paths lead to the recreational areas of Bojanovice. The Kocába Valley offers visitors opportunities for recreation. Families can combine different ideas for a day: a cultural exploration around the chapel and monument, time in the river landscape, or a hike in which the landscape takes centre stage. The blue-marked trail and the local paths should each be considered separate offerings when making personal plans.

Which accommodation is right for your stay?

When looking for a hotel or other accommodation, you can first decide which focus should define your trip. Those particularly interested in historical themes can base their choice on the desired combination of local history and cultural discovery. If nature and recreation are more important, the landscape along the Kocába may be the deciding factor. For active days, it is also relevant that a blue-marked hiking trail runs through Bojanovice.
