Between Planets, Water and Avenues

Vestec combines an unusual educational trail with paths by Vestecký rybník and several historical traces. The educational Planet Trail begins at the junction of the cycle paths by Vestecký rybník and runs for 1.4 kilometres. Information panels introduce all the planets of the solar system. The route also includes a planetarium climbing structure depicting the most common constellations. For families who want to discover things together along the way, this creates an outing that closely combines exercise and learning.

The recreational area at Vestecký rybník includes a footbridge and several viewing pontoons. Alej svobody leads from Vestecký rybník towards Hrnčíře, following an old farm track. The avenue is also part of the yellow-marked KČT hiking trail between Kunratice and Průhonice. At its beginning there is a flower meadow, wooden footbridges and seating. Fruit trees of old Czech varieties also grow there. This gives the path several clearly distinct sections: access to the water, the connection towards Hrnčíře and the fruit-tree-lined area at the beginning of the avenue.

Another distinctive connection in Vestec is Alej prince Philipa. The avenue consists of 100 lime trees and lies along the cycle path towards Kunratice by the retention basin. A poetry jukebox was unveiled there in October 2022. It recites poems, sings and shares interesting facts about Vestec. Historical Traces in Vestec

Vestec was first mentioned in writing around 1360, at that time under the name “villa Beska”, in connection with the royal Kostelec n/Sázavou castle, to whose domain it belonged. Vestecký rybník also has a documented connection to the local history: from 1700 onwards, it belonged together with the municipality to the Dolní Břežany estate, which was administered by the Prague Archdiocese. The pilgrimage tradition in Vestec continues in a changed form. There is also a stone monument nearby, a bell tower dating from 1831.

Sportovní centrum TJ Viktoria Vestec is intended for public use. By arrangement, it can be made available at certain times for educational, sporting, social and commercial purposes.
