Discover Číčovice
Historic Číčovice among sacred buildings and landscapes
Číčovice combines remarkable evidence of local history with a landscape where geological and paleontological features stand alongside leisure activities. Sacred buildings, a historic mill, Číčovický kamýk, Adventure Golf and a designated cycling route offer visitors a variety of ways to experience the area. The surroundings can thus be explored from cultural, nature-oriented and active perspectives.
Chapel of the Holy Cross in Malé Číčovice
A notable cultural starting point is the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Malé Číčovice. The octagonal Baroque building was constructed between 1711 and 1714 and restored in 1908–1909. The chapel therefore represents a clearly defined historical landmark whose construction and subsequent restoration form two important chapters in its history.
Church, mill and historical details
Číčovice’s historic sights include Kalingrův mlýn, dating from 1752. South of the village stands the Church of St Lawrence, which traces its origins to a Romanesque place of worship from the 12th century. Its architectural history includes alterations in 1764 and 1905. The adjacent cemetery also contains an 18th-century chapel dedicated to Saint Florian. Gothic wall paintings were discovered in the Church of St Lawrence in 1901. The church’s history therefore encompasses Romanesque origins, later structural alterations and an art-historical discovery.
Číčovický kamýk and the protected surroundings
Číčovický kamýk is a silicate rock outcrop of geomorphological significance and also a paleontological site. It lies south of Číčovice above the Church of St Lawrence. The church and Kamýk thus form two distinct destinations in the same southern area: historic sacred architecture stands alongside a landscape feature of geological and paleontological interest.
Golf and cycling
Another side of Číčovice is represented by Adventure Golf Číčovice. The 18-hole course lies in the protected landscape area “Okolí Okoře” on the banks of the Zákolanský potok. Equipment for the game is provided free of charge. Cycling Route 0078 also adds an option for an active day out. It connects Tuchoměřice with Číčovice and continues to Okoř. The route complements the permanent sights with a link between several places and places a particular emphasis on cycling.
Local events
Since 2000, volunteers from the parents and young people of Číčovice have organized a children’s day. The event features 12–18 stations with tasks and ends with sausage roasting. Another celebration in Číčovice ends with an evening dance and an auction of the maypole. These events complement the sacred buildings, the rock outcrop, the golf offering and the cycling route with communal occasions. This gives travel planning several possible focuses: local history, landscape, physical activity and local festive culture each represent a different side of Číčovice.
