Solopysky combines a remarkable local history with protected landscapes and a marked hiking trail through the Švarcava Valley. This creates a destination where historical discoveries and observations of nature can be closely connected: the older part of the village lies near the confluence and above the right bank of the Švarcava, while the diverse habitats of Kulivá hora spread throughout the surrounding area.

Between the Švarcava Valley and the Older Village Center

Solopysky lies in the Švarcava Valley and on a short, unnamed tributary on the left bank. This location shapes orientation within the village. The older part is situated near the confluence and above the right bank; a main road runs through this area. Its townscape is characterized by single-storey farmsteads arranged lengthwise. Anyone who wishes to experience not only the landscape but also established settlement structures during their stay will find a clearly recognizable historic character here.

History Spanning Several Periods

Solopysky was first mentioned in 1305. 325 years passed between the first mention and its acquisition by Zbraslav Monastery. This phase continued for another 155 years until the monastery was dissolved in 1785. Another important stage followed in 1630, when Zbraslav Monastery acquired the village. Even after the monastery was dissolved in 1785, Solopysky remained part of the Zbraslav estate until the end of serfdom. This sequence makes the village interesting for visitors who prefer to trace historical connections in a specific small place rather than simply collect individual dates. The older part of the village, with its farmsteads, provides the visible setting for this.

Nature in the Český kras Protected Landscape Area

Solopysky belongs to Zone II of the Český kras Protected Landscape Area. Kulivá hora offers a particularly diverse natural setting. Seven amphibian species live there, including the fire salamander (Salamandr salamandr) and the agile frog (Rana dalmatina). Along the Švarcava stream extends a narrow mosaic strip of ash-alder floodplain forests and riparian vegetation of flowing waters. Here, the term describes a small-scale combination of different habitats located directly alongside the stream.

The Kulivá hora protected area also includes calcareous scree slopes of the hill country and montane zone, ravine and slope forests of the Tilio-Acerion alliance, Pannonian downy oak forests, Pannonian rocky grasslands, and oak-hornbeam forests of the Galio-Carpinetum association. This natural area offers different perspectives for planning your trip: you can view the landscape through its forest communities, open calcareous areas, or moist habitats along the Švarcava, without reducing its distinctive features to a single uniform landscape.

A red-marked hiking trail leads from Vonoklasy to Solopysky and continues from there towards Radotín and Zbraslav.
