Discover Tursko: Church, Krliš and History

Tursko is a destination for you if you want to discover traces of history not only in a single building, but also at archaeological sites and through the history of the village. Its dominant landmark is the Church of St. Martin. The restored Křížovnická Residence, the historic farmyard complex and Krliš Hill are also part of the picture. The Church of St. Martin

Construction of the new Church of St. Martin began in 1698, and it was consecrated in 1700. As the dominant landmark, it is an important cultural reference point during your stay. The restored Křížovnická Residence is also part of the village’s historic character; it took on its present form in 1725. The historic farmyard complex in Tursko was built as early as 1661. The buildings therefore do not date from the same period: the 1661 farmyard was followed by the church, whose construction began in 1698 and which was consecrated in 1700, and by the Residence in its present form from 1725.

Krliš and the Archaeological Traces

The Krliš archaeological site lies south of Tursko. It was already used as a burial site during the Late Únětice culture. A burial mound was built on the summit of Krliš at the transition from the Hallstatt period to the La Tène period. Further burial activities took place at the same site in the Early Middle Ages. If you are interested in the long-term development of a landscape, the view here extends from prehistoric traces to the Early Middle Ages.

Archaeology between Krliš and Těšina

Archaeological finds are concentrated in a strip stretching from Krliš Hill to Těšina. The Tursko area also contains burial mounds extending from Ers to Chýnovský Háj. The oldest archaeological finds from the cadastral area of Tursko date back to 1828. Tursko was also part of the economic hinterland of the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star.

Hiking and Music

A yellow-marked hiking trail ends in Tursko. This can be a specific point of reference if you would like to combine a hike with a destination in the village. It also offers another way to view the village: the trail leads to a destination where historic buildings, archaeological themes and the landscape come together. The event calendar also includes the recurring musical event Turské hudební odpoledne; the municipality announced its seventh edition. This event complements the historical and archaeological highlights with a cultural date.
