Ústí nad Labem District

The Ústí nad Labem District combines striking landscapes with castles, chateaus, technical monuments, and engaging museum experiences. The region is part of the North-West Bohemia tourist area as well as the Krušné hory and Podkrušnohoří tourist region. This creates a varied picture for trip planning: rock formations and protected landscapes stand alongside historic buildings, small excursion destinations, and clearly distinct hiking routes.

Sandstone, Waterfalls, and Trails Through the Landscape

Among the most impressive natural destinations are the Tiské stěny near Tisá. The sandstone rock city in the Labské pískovce area consists of rock towers, narrow passages, and viewpoints. Online, visitors can find admission tickets, opening hours, route maps, and practical information. Another striking natural feature is Vaňovský vodopád: the waterfall is 12 meters high and is one of the highest waterfalls in the České středohoří.

The České středohoří offers hundreds of kilometers of marked hiking trails in total, as well as numerous educational trails leading to natural and cultural destinations. The protected landscapes in the surrounding area include CHKO České středohoří, CHKO Labské pískovce, and the Východní Krušné hory Nature Park. Porta Bohemica is also highlighted as a special natural attraction in the region. When choosing accommodation, it is therefore possible to distinguish between a stay focused on rock landscapes, longer marked trails, or cultural excursion destinations, without reducing these themes to a single type of landscape.

One specific hiking destination is the trail from Zadní Telnice to Adolfov. It follows marked trails via Habartice and Fojtovická pláň to Komáří vížka. Near Telnice, mountain meadows also extend across 30 hectares between the ski lifts. The 2.5-kilometer-long Okolím Zubrnic educational trail passes through Týniště and returns along the Luční potok. Some trails in the České středohoří run over rocky terrain that can be slippery in wet weather and icy in winter.

Easier Routes and Regional Connections

A different option is offered by a 25-kilometer section of the Labská stezka. The route runs on asphalt and paved surfaces and features easy terrain with little elevation gain. Thus, alongside the rockier hiking trails, there is also a route with a distinctly different surface and elevation profile. For the connection from Ústí nad Labem toward Telnice, DÚK bus 451 serves the route from Mírové náměstí to the Telnice area.

A cable car connection from the Forum shopping center to Větruše was introduced in 2010. For an excursion starting in the city, this is a noteworthy element of the regional infrastructure. The different trails, landscapes, and transport connections help you choose accommodation not only by the place name, but also by the desired character of your vacation days.

Castles, Chateaus, and Living History

Hrad Střekov was founded in 1318 to protect a trade route. In Velké Březno, the chateau was built between 1842 and 1845 for Count Karel Chotek; it was later rebuilt in the Neo-Renaissance style. Today, detailed interiors, historical stories, and accompanying visitor events offer different ways to experience the history of the chateau.

The open-air museum Muzeum v přírodě Zubrnice includes a farmstead. It houses the permanent exhibition “Chmel, který stavěl domy”. The Mlýnské údolí complex in Týniště also includes a working mill. These destinations show that regional culture can be experienced not only in grand chateaus, but also in rural complexes and places shaped by traditional crafts.

Another example is Masarykovo zdymadlo, a technical monument dating from 1923–1936 with a hydroelectric power station and fish pass. As a local detail, Svádov adds to the picture of the region: the place is known for spring radishes and strawberries sold along the road.
