Discover Trmice: Castle, Sacred Architecture and Model Railway
Trmice Between Sacred Architecture, Castle and Park
Trmice offers several clearly distinct ways to experience culture and a stay. The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, Trmice Castle with its park and the model railway museum represent different aspects of the town: sacred architectural history, representative architecture, landscape and a specialised exhibition. This makes it possible to plan a cultural stay just as specifically as a walk starting in Trmice.
Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and Trmice Castle
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is one of the most important sacred monuments in Trmice. It acquired its present appearance through renovations in 1898 and 1899. The church grounds include statues of Saint John of Nepomuk and Saint Joseph. Trmice Castle provides an architecturally different accent: the one- to two-storey building has a battlement-crowned tower, a balcony and a staircase in front. It is set in an extensive English landscape park and serves as a publicly accessible representative cultural centre. This allows you to view architectural history, sculpture and castle architecture as a shared cultural focus.
Further Sacred Architecture
Trmice’s cultural diversity also includes the Evangelical Church of the Lord Jesus. The two-storey, rendered masonry building has an octagonal rooftop turret. This adds another sacred building to the cultural theme centred on the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, the castle and the museum. Alongside the castle and model railway, exploring Trmice therefore gains an additional architectural perspective.
Model Railway in the Castle
The model railway museum in Trmice Castle houses a permanent exhibition on the history and present of model railways. The exhibition includes working model railway layouts in N, TT and H0 gauges. The three gauges give the museum visit a clear technical and historical focus and complement the castle’s architectural and cultural themes with an independent collection.
Walking Excursion and Event Date
The Přemyslovské Stadice walking excursion follows a red-marked hiking route through the Bílina valley via Koštov to Stadice. It begins in Trmice at Václavské náměstí by the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. The starting point at Václavské náměstí in Trmice can be reached by MHD trolleybus 73 from the Divadlo stop. When choosing accommodation in Trmice, you can therefore organise your stay around the cultural focus or this walking excursion without having to combine both themes in the same activity. The Trmická desítka is also relevant for planning your dates: it is a running competition, with its 13th edition taking place on Saturday, 12 September 2026.
