Stebno

Stebno combines local history with cycling and hiking routes. The Church of St. Simon and Judas stands in the centre of the village square. Other routes lead through the village or pass through Stebno on their way back. During a visit, you can combine a cultural stop at the church with a section of one of the routes.

Church of St. Simon and Judas

The Church of St. Simon and Judas is a single-nave Baroque church dating from 1692. In addition to the church, the protected complex includes the bell tower, the enclosing wall and the gate. For your visit to the village, therefore, it is not only the church building that is relevant, but the connection between several structures within the protected complex.

Inside the church is a sandstone baptismal font dating from 1546, which was restored in 1908. This detail adds a significantly older furnishing element to the Baroque dating and gives the church an additional historical layer.

Cycling through Stebno

The municipal cycling route “Za výhledy na Portu Bohemicu” runs through Stebno between Podlešín and Dubice. It is 48 kilometres long and includes 600 metres of ascent and 600 metres of descent. When planning a cycling trip, both the distance and the ascent and descent are therefore relevant.

In addition, the regional cycling route from Ústí nad Labem via Hostovice and Podlešín reaches Stebno on cycling route 3090. From there, it continues on cycling route 3092 towards Dubice. This connects Ústí nad Labem, Hostovice, Podlešín, Stebno and the direction of Dubice in one continuous route.

A circular route passing through Stebno on the return journey

Another route length is offered by the circular route via the Vaňov viewpoints and Ferrata Lužická. On the return journey, it leads via Stebno, the Vrkoč viewpoint and the Vaňovský Waterfall back to public transport. The circular route is approximately 10 to 11 kilometres long. At around 10 to 11 kilometres, it is considerably shorter than the 48-kilometre cycling route. This gives you a longer cycling trip and a shorter circular route with different focuses to choose between when planning your day.

The historic Solní cesta

The history of the village is also linked to a route. The historic Solní cesta ran south from Ústí nad Labem via Hostovice and Milbohov to Stebno. This route continued to bear the medieval name “Solní cesta”. The sequence Ústí nad Labem, Hostovice, Milbohov and Stebno makes the historic connection concrete and establishes a distinct focus alongside the church and leisure routes.
