Discover Telnice: Ski Centre, Nature and History

Telnice combines winter sports, woodland landscapes, ponds and a remarkable history within a compact thematic area. Winter sports and trails around Telnice

The Zadní Telnice Ski Centre has nine runs with a total length of 5,060 m, a two-seater chairlift and six drag lifts. Winter sports are therefore a clearly recognisable part of the area’s profile. When planning your trip, you can compare this focus with the other landscape and cultural themes without combining the different experiences into a single route.

Specific trails are also described outside the ski centre. The “Around Telnice” trail follows steep climbs and offers impressive views. Along the way, coniferous and deciduous forests alternate with lush sunny meadows and shady streams lined with ferns. You should take the steep climbs into account when planning your individual day. The changing forest types, meadows and streams make the trail scenically varied. The trail leading to the “Monument in the Wide Forest” was renamed “Leonhard's” at that time. The Telnické MTB trails cross the “Around Telnice” trail and lead to a pond.

Pond landscapes and protected nature

At Oprám Pond, there is an obstacle course called “Ninja Factor” that runs across the surface of the water. Oprám Pond was created from the former Gustav mine, combining a distinctive landscape feature with a former industrial connection. There are also protected natural areas around Telnice where rare plant species can be found. When choosing your destinations, you can therefore distinguish between an active course, a special waterscape and areas of natural interest.

Churches and monuments of the region

St. Josef Church in Telnice was designed in the Neo-Gothic style and is 15 m long and 9 m wide. It was completed in autumn 1910; on 23 October 1910, it was consecrated by the Bishop of Litoměřice, Dr Josef Groß. Its construction history can therefore be linked to a specific date and clear architectural features.

The Varvažovský Cross is considered the oldest monument commemorating the battles of 1813 at Chlumec, Přestanov and Varvažov. Another historical feature is the Varvažovský rozcestník (Pyrám). It is a small but significant monument to the history of road signage in the region. The Stará pošta building in Varvažov was constructed between 1814 and 1817; today it serves as the Stará pošta guesthouse and restaurant.
