Chuderov: Hiking Trails, Views and History
Accommodation in Chuderov
Chuderov combines marked hiking trails, prominent elevations and varied viewpoints. The municipality’s administrative area lies within the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area. The destinations offer a range of highlights, from a clearly defined trail section and the summit of Radešín to views of the Elbe Valley and the Central Bohemian Uplands, as well as traces of cultural history.
Hiking Trails and Radešín
The Chuderov Circuits include a 4 km extension of the blue-marked hiking trail from Žežice to the Vyhlídka Vladimíra Horáka viewpoint. The marked extension runs from Žežice to this viewpoint and gives the hike a clear route. A hikers’ shelter is located at the Vyhlídka Vladimíra Horáka viewpoint on the trail from Radešín. The summit of Radešín can be reached from four directions: from Chuderov, Sovolusky, Radešín and Chuderovec. Radešín, at 552 m above Chuderovec, is made of trachyte. A prehistoric hillfort once stood on Radešín. The trail extension to the viewpoint and the four routes to Radešín answer different planning questions: one describes a marked section with a length and destination, while the other offers several directions for reaching the summit.
Views Between the Elbe Valley and the Ore Mountains
It is also worth considering the specific destination when choosing a viewpoint. From Zámecký vrch, the view stretches across the Elbe Valley to the peaks of the Bohemian Central Highlands. Vyhlídka na zelené lies above Chuderovec on a green-marked trail and offers views of the Ore Mountains ridge and the northern part of Ústí nad Labem. Zámecký vrch can be reached via the road between Chuderovec and Arnultovice. The direction you want to look in is therefore a useful distinction when choosing a viewpoint: the Elbe Valley and Central Highlands peaks on one side, the Ore Mountains ridge and northern Ústí on the other.
Historic Traces and Church Architecture
A prehistoric hillfort once stood on Radešín. At the beginning of the 14th century, a wooden fortified structure stood on Zámecký vrch; it was burned down in 1348. These are two distinct historical periods associated with the named elevations: a prehistoric hillfort and a fortification from the early 14th century. The single-nave Church of St Martin in Chuderov has a polygonal-ended chancel set apart from the nave. The nave has a gabled roof, while the chancel has a hipped roof with a roof turret. “Polygonal-ended” means that the chancel finishes with several straight surfaces rather than a semicircle. This makes the architectural description easier to understand without specialist knowledge.
