Discover Ostrožská Nová Ves
Between the spa forest, water and living tradition
Ostrožská Nová Ves combines the atmosphere of a traditional spa town with experiences in nature and a distinctive regional culture. The Sirnaté lázně Ostrožská Nová Ves spa complex includes an extensive spa forest park. A cycle path leads directly through the grounds of Sirnaté lázně Ostrožská Nová Ves. For you, this contrast may shape your choice of stay: on the one hand, a peaceful spa and landscape setting takes centre stage, while on the other, the beekeeping educational trail, water-based activities and insights into traditional customs complement this perspective.
Spa tradition and historical everyday culture
The long-standing tradition of successful spa treatments at Sirnaté lázně Ostrožská Nová Ves is linked to the discovery of a unique natural healing spring with sulphurous natural mineral water. The local history also includes a listed house that houses a museum with an exhibition on traditional living. In addition, Ostrožská Nová Ves has a typical smallholder building dating from the transition between the 19th and 20th centuries. Those who want to learn not only about the landscape but also about former ways of life will therefore find concrete cultural points of reference here.
Kraslice and festivals with strong local ties
Ostrožská Nová Ves was a centre of kraslice production. The decoration of Novoveské kraslice began around 1880 to 1890; beeswax is used for painting them. This tradition gives the town a distinctive cultural theme that differs from general museum visits. The festivals also showcase regional customs. At the Hody festival in Ostrožská Nová Ves, the Stárky carry plates or baskets of fruit. Svatováclavské hody is also celebrated in Ostrožská Nová Ves on 28 September. The traditional Fašank programme on 14 February 2026 featured a masked procession, performances by FS Novovešťan and, in the evening, a gathering with cimbalom music.
Cycle path, beekeeping educational trail and gravel lakes
For active days, the Včelí naučná stezka offers a clearly defined focus. The educational trail has 12 information panels covering bees, their importance to nature, bee products and the development of beehives. It leads through the spa area in Ostrožská Nová Ves and through the picturesque landscape around the gravel lakes. In this way, the route combines nature observation with clearly presented information and sets a different emphasis from the town’s spa and cultural themes.
Water-based activities with a time reference
The local offering also includes the Albatros natural bathing area. For the 2025 bathing season, it was designated as a natural swimming area where an operator provided bathing facilities. This time reference is important if you are planning a stay centred around swimming: the information explicitly refers to the 2025 season and says nothing about a later opening or a current offering.
