Duchcov between Castle History and Special Discoveries

Duchcov combines a distinctive castle history with cultural discoveries in the town and the wider surrounding area. The focal point is Duchcov Castle, originally known by the German name Dux. Since 2001, it has been a national cultural monument and has a special connection with the Valdštejn family and Giacomo Casanova, who wrote his memoirs there. The Duchcov Town Museum presents the rich history of Duchcov and its immediate surroundings and displays archaeological finds from prehistoric times. The “Ve stopách G. Casanovy” educational trail offers another perspective. It leads through Duchcov and provides information about Baroque sculpture, works by the modern-era sculptors Heinrich Scholze and Herrmann Zettlitzer, the legends of Barbora Pond, and forgotten corners of the old streets of Duchcov. The castle, museum and educational trail therefore offer different ways to explore interiors, archaeological finds and routes through the town.

Different themes for trip planning can also be found outside the town. Osek Monastery is located in the immediate vicinity of Duchcov.
