Kozlany: Hills, History and Cukrovarská dráha
Kozlany combines a hilly landscape shaped by numerous fields with historical landmarks, a section of Cukrovarská dráha and independent cultural events. If you are looking for a place for your trip where landscape, local history and individual events can be combined, Kozlany offers concrete points of interest for this.
Hilly Landscape and Memorial Lime Trees
Kozlany lies below the western peaks of the Orlovická vrchovina uplands. Its location and the surroundings shaped by numerous fields give the village a distinct landscape character. This includes a group of nine memorial lime trees. The trees complement the rural village setting with a striking historical element and also make the area interesting for visitors who want to get to know not only individual sights but also the character of a place during their travels.
Chapel and Historic Religious Works
One of the defining cultural landmarks is the Chapel of Saint Florian. The present chapel is believed to have been built in the 1840s; it was first recorded in the indication sketch of Moravia from 1837–1843. A statue of the Virgin Mary stands beside the chapel. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from the 18th century, is also located nearby. A preserved, beautiful entrance gate of a former Baroque manor farm complements these historical traces and broadens the view beyond the sacred ensemble. This creates a compact ensemble where a sacred building, religious works and different historical periods can be viewed together.
Cukrovarská dráha: Completed Section and Planned Connection
The history of the routes can also be traced in Kozlany. A section of the Cukrovarská dráha cycle path has already been completed in the cadastral area of Kozlany. The planned cycle and pedestrian connection between Vyškov and Kozlany is intended to approximately follow the former sugar railway branch line, along which sugar beets were transported to the Vyškov sugar factory. The distinction is important when planning your excursion: a completed section is not automatically the same as the entire planned connection. Those who want to combine cycling with regional history will therefore find both a completed section and a historical reference in the planned route alignment here.
Music and an Announced Cycling Competition
KELNAROVY KOZLANY is a brass music showcase. For Sunday, 24 May 2026, the “Kozlanský okruh” cycling competition for children and young people was announced for the area around Kozlany and Bohdalice. The event adds a clear sporting focus alongside the village’s cultural and landscape themes. When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore distinguish between a stay focused on landscape and history and an idea centered on a time-specific event, without equating the two.
