Nemojany combines active experiences with a history visible at the chapel, the Boží muka wayside shrine and the Chobot Mill. Walks and hikes in the Rakovecké údolí Nature Park, Cycle Route 5071 and Chobot Pond offer different ways to shape your stay. When choosing accommodation, you can first consider whether you are especially interested in walking trails, cycling, cultural history or the pond.

Hiking, Cycling and Finding Your Way

Today, Nemojany is a starting point for walks and hikes in the Rakovecké údolí Nature Park. If you want to explore nature on foot, you can choose the village as the starting point for your own plans. Cycle Route 5071 passes through Nemojany and is 32 kilometres long. This gives you two different ways to plan: a specifically numbered and measured cycle route, and walks and hikes associated with the nature park. Its length gives cyclists a concrete measure; the nature park is the point of reference for walking tours. The Brno–Přerov railway line runs along the edge of Nemojany. The location details differ: the railway line runs along the edge of the village, while the cycle route passes through Nemojany.

Chapel, Wayside Shrine and Mill History

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk dates from 1855. Boží muka is a significant example of small-scale sacred architecture in the Nemojany landscape. The historicist structure was built around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries and stands outside the built-up area, on the road to Brno. Following an exemplary restoration in 2022, it won second place in 2023 in the Jihomoravský kraj competition for the best-restored cultural monument of 2022, in the small structures category. Together, the chapel and Boží muka illustrate different scales and periods of sacred architecture: a precisely dated building from 1855 and a wayside shrine from around 1800.

The viewpoint below the church on the hill faces mainly south. The historic Chobot Mill was powered by water and complements the sacred buildings with a glimpse of the former use of water. Local cultural themes thus range from the architecture of small religious buildings to the history of a technical enterprise.

Chobot Pond and Practical Information

Chobot Pond itself covers about 4.3 hectares and is associated with sport fishing. A visit is possible for wheelchair users when accompanied; however, access to the water is not adapted. This accessibility information was last updated in 2021, so you should check it again before your visit.

An orientation detail, also updated in 2021, places the pond just under 1 kilometre from the centre of Nemojany, in the direction of Pístovice, and mentions a parking option at Hotel Nemojanský mlýn. Check in advance whether this parking option is available for your visit. The distance indicates the pond’s location; the accessibility and parking information should be considered separately when planning a specific visit.
