Mouřínov: Nature Park, Ponds and Culture

Mouřínov is a destination for anyone who wants to combine nature experiences, waterside paths and small cultural discoveries. The entire administrative area lies within the Ždánický les Nature Park. There are also several protected landscape areas, marked hiking trails and a recommended circular route passing two ponds. This allows you to organize your stay around peaceful nature observation, an active tour and a swim in the natural swimming pool.

Protected Nature in the Ždánický les

The Šévy Nature Reserve is located in the territory of Mouřínov. The Hrubá louka Natural Monument is also situated here. It protects thermophilous Ponto-Pannonian plant communities and wild animals, especially amphibians. The reference to this distinctive flora and fauna makes Hrubá louka an independent nature theme within the municipality: it is not only the landscape as a whole, but also its specially protected habitats that shape the character of Mouřínov.

The protected-area context also includes the Mouřínov – Druhý rybník European Site of Community Importance. Its name already points to the connection between the municipality and its pond landscape.

Hiking Trails and Ponds as Excursion Destinations

A green-marked hiking trail runs along the western edge of Mouřínov. Another starting point is located on the northern shore of the Mouřínovský rybník pond, where a yellow-marked hiking trail begins. These two marked trails provide clear guidance for planning your exploration of the surrounding area on foot.

A circular route from Mouřínov via the Dolní a Horní Mouřínovský rybník ponds is recommended as a longer tour. It is approximately 12.5 kilometers long. In addition to shorter sections, this offers a more extensive loop in which the two ponds are the defining landscape features. The Dolní a Horní Mouřínovský rybník ponds can also be reached by mountain bike. This gives you a second means of getting around, alongside hiking, for planning your day, without implying any particular route.

The Mouřínovský rybník pond is used as a natural swimming pool. Together with the hiking trails, this creates a special combination of activity and time spent by the water. A tour can therefore be planned differently from a simple walk: you can view the pond as the destination of a hike or plan the use of the natural swimming area as a separate part of a warm day.

Cultural Monument and Regional Tradition

Alongside its natural attractions, Mouřínov also has a cultural landmark. The municipality is home to the protected cultural monument consisting of a bust of T. G. Masaryk. It complements the landscape experiences with a specific monument of historical significance, allowing you to get to know the area through more than just nature and ponds.

The beginnings of amateur theater in Mouřínov also date back to the 19th century. This long-standing tradition is one of the municipality’s distinctive cultural features.
