Hiking, Information and Music

The Stezka z Týnce do Týnce is a 12-kilometre hiking trail. Ten stations with information panels focus on local sights and facts. At 12 kilometres, the route is clearly defined as an excursion in its own right; the ten stations repeatedly provide opportunities to connect the trail with individual sights and local facts. This makes it possible to discover the area not only through individual destinations but also along a continuous route. The Týnecká folková zahrada, a recurring folk music festival in the castle garden, provides a cultural complement. As a result, the castle garden has a musical connection in addition to its historical significance, while the route combines exercise and information.

Hradisko and the History of the Town

The Hradisko Memorial commemorates the freedom of the Czech nation and the victims of the world wars. The monumental structure is made of rubble stone and has an enclosing wall and a staircase. These architectural elements give the memorial a clearly recognizable spatial form. A memorial stone near the monument commemorates its ceremonial unveiling, attended by President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk in 1921. The Háj Malého Noe grove was also established on Hradisko Hill near Velký Týnec; the grove was created with the support of Nadace Malý Noe, the Municipality of Velký Týnec, the company Arboeko and individual tree sponsors. The hill thus brings together a memorial site and a planted grove.

The Castle Garden and Sacred Buildings

Velký Týnec Castle stands on the site of an originally medieval fortress with a farmyard. Count Karel Martinic had a Baroque castle built on the fortress grounds. The castle garden is freely accessible. The church Kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie was rebuilt into its present form between 1750 and 1760. It is a single-nave, longitudinal building with a semicircular chancel. The Stations of the Cross at this church were originally laid out along the path to Hradisko.

Smaller furnishings and details are also worth attention. The church Kostel sv. Matouše in Vsisko was built in 1867. It contains a functioning harmonium made by E. Krauss in Stuttgart in the second third of the 19th century. Two statues stand in front of the entrance, dating from the first half of the 18th century: Saint Barbara and Saint Matthew. At this church site, the year of construction, the instrument and the sculptures can be viewed together. The local history thus leads from medieval origins through Baroque architectural forms to memorials and surviving individual pieces.
