Příkazy: Discover Haná Architecture and Village History

Příkazy combines a historically distinctive villagescape with vivid Haná culture. Particularly impressive are the medieval street plan, folk architecture and the Hanácké muzeum v přírodě. Together with the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius, they create a destination where regional architectural forms, village history and living traditions can be experienced together at close range. The combination of architecture and customs shapes the first impression of the village.

Chapel and Historic Villagescape

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius is dedicated to the Slavic apostles and also serves as a memorial to the victims of the world wars. Architecturally, it resembles a Romanesque rotunda with two apses. The sculptor Julius Pelikán and the painters Jano Kőhler and Eduard Milén contributed to its artistic design. During the tour, religious architecture, remembrance culture and village history come together.

Příkazy has a street plan of medieval origin and a significant ensemble of folk architecture. This includes residential and farm buildings made of clay, masonry and wood dating from the 17th to the 19th century. The ensemble also includes buildings that were relocated here from the surrounding area or reconstructed. The village therefore presents not only individual historic houses, but also different materials, architectural forms and traces of regional development.

Hanácké muzeum v přírodě

The Hanácké muzeum v přírodě in Příkazy – the Hanácké skanzen – is a unique testimony to clay architecture in Haná. The well-preserved complex includes orchards, three unique stable barns with framed façades and a replica. The visitor route also leads to Haná farmsteads made of fired and unfired bricks. The combination of gardens, barns and farmsteads makes the various forms of rural architecture visible along the tour.

At the museum, clay architecture and farm complexes form part of the tour; the special map also leads to selected buildings in the village. For orientation, the museum visit and the village tour can be planned as two connected but distinct focal points.

The tour of Kameníčkův grunt covers the residential and farm sections of the Haná farmstead from 1876, the adjoining gardens and the stable barns with framed façades. A guided tour of Kameníčkův grunt presents the history of the municipality as well as everyday life on a Haná farmstead in the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. The tour also includes an exhibition of historic agricultural machinery and equipment. The residential section, farm section, gardens and barns each illustrate different aspects of rural life.

Traditions and Discoveries in the Village

The Hanácké muzeum v přírodě programme for 2026 includes the event “HANÁCKÉ VELIKONOCE”. It focuses on traditional Easter customs and practices from Haná, egg decorating, weaving Easter whips, baking Jidáše and Easter games for children. Visitors can use a special map to walk through Příkazy from the museum and visit selected interesting buildings in the village. Crafts, baking and games complement one another in the event programme.

The Hanácké muzeum v přírodě can be reached by train via Příkazy railway station on the Drahanovice/Senice–Příkazy–Olomouc route. Příkazy railway station provides a specific point of orientation.
