Uitwa – Churches, Cycling Route and Třasák Observation Tower

Uitwa combines the history of medieval church architecture, the historic village ensemble of Přílezy, a 39-kilometre cycling route and Třasák Observation Tower. Between sacred architecture, a compact village structure and an active route, the area offers different ways to explore it. Those wishing to combine culture and activity can plan their stay around specific buildings, a village setting and a cycling tour. St. Vitus Church and Medieval Architectural History

St. Vitus Church was built in the first quarter of the 14th century by the Milevsko building lodge on elevated ground at the northeastern edge of the municipality. Its first written mention dates from 1354. This single-nave Gothic church has a three-sided presbytery; a rectangular tower stands on its northern side. Its elevated position and clearly structured design give the church a precise spatial and architectural form. For travel planning, it is also important to note that St. Vitus is occasionally accessible. An interior visit therefore cannot be assumed independently of the access options available at the time.

Přílezy and St. Bartholomew’s Church

A preserved, compact historic development surrounds the village green in Přílezy. The ensemble includes St. Bartholomew’s Church and a cemetery. The church is late Romanesque, follows the Cistercian type and was built in the second quarter of the 13th century. Its first written mention dates from 17 September 1354. Later alterations added further historical layers to the building: St. Bartholomew’s was given a Gothic form in the 14th century and remodelled in the Baroque style in the 18th century. A crucifix on a stone pedestal stands in front of the church. The original classical cross at this location was replaced by a new one at the beginning of the 20th century. As a result, a visit encompasses not only the large architectural forms but also an individual detail with its own history. The church’s outdoor areas are accessible, making it possible to appreciate the ensemble within the village setting.

Cycling Route and Třasák Observation Tower

Local Cycling Route No. 2232 Bečov–Toužim–Nečtiny runs through Útvina. It is 39 km long and moderately difficult. These two key facts help place the scope of a cycling tour realistically within the day’s itinerary: the route represents a longer active outing rather than just a short loop. Another destination is Třasák Observation Tower on the southern edge of the municipality of Útvina. The hexagonal, three-storey tower is 12.5 m high. Its stone ground floor is topped by a structure made of impregnated spruce wood. The cycling route therefore represents movement over a longer distance, while the tower is a single structure on the edge of the municipality.
