Sichlau: Cycling Route and Sacred History

Those who choose Sichlau for their stay will find a combination of a cycling route, village churches, chapels and historic traces along the water in Čichalov. Experiences range from a 32 km route with an audio guide to freely accessible ruins and a 14th-century church. Cycling through the Surrounding Area

The Cesta z města 8 cycling route is 32 km long. It leads via Žlutice, Čichalov, Chyše, Močidlec and Kobylé back to Žlutice. A downloadable audio guide is available for the route. The sequence through these places structures the ride and connects several stops into a cycling tour.

Smaller activities are also part of the local scene. Čichalov has two modern children's playgrounds. Fishing is permitted in the pond below the cemetery if you have a valid permit from the pond operator. Churches and Chapels in Čichalov

The Church of All Saints in Čichalov was built in the Gothic style in the first half of the 14th century. In the area around Žlutice, it is a valuable example of sacred architecture from the time of Charles IV. The cemetery with the church is located approximately 1 km northeast of Čichalov on higher ground.

A second distinctive feature is the Baroque village chapel dedicated to Saints John and Paul. It was built in the 17th century and was originally dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The exterior areas of the Chapel of Saints John and Paul are accessible. This makes it possible to view its history from the outside without requiring access to the interior.

Mill and Marian Chapel by the Malá Trasovka Stream

Čichalovský mlýn is a watermill that was built at an unknown time on the left bank of the Malá Trasovka stream in a deep valley approximately 1.1 km west of Čichalov. The mill was first marked on the map of the First Josephine Military Survey, conducted from 1764 to 1768. The ruins of Čichalovský mlýn are freely accessible.

At the access road to Čichalovský mlýn No. 29, master miller Wenzl Pleyer had a stone Marian chapel built in the second half of the 19th century. Of the former Marian chapel, only the surrounding masonry up to its original height has survived, without a roof or roof structure. The Marian chapel is currently in a dilapidated condition. Together with the mill, it forms a place where regional architectural history, the watercourse and visible historical changes can be observed in close proximity to one another.
