Nové Hamry – Nature, Culture and Active Experiences

Nové Hamry is a destination where nature, local history and active experiences come together. This gives you a versatile basis for planning your trip: the Hamerská educational trail leads to a distinctive landscape feature, historic religious buildings give the town its own character, and the Seifertova via ferrata, cycling routes and ski lifts add a range of activities.

Landscape and trails around Nové Hamry

The highest point of the Hamerská educational trail is a valuable peat bog on Tisovský vrch. This landscape feature adds a distinctive nature experience to your choice of activities. If you would like to explore the surrounding area by bicycle, the Karlova-Stežka is intended primarily for mountain bikes and trekking bikes, as its paths are not paved throughout. The condition of the route is therefore an important difference compared with a classic cycling trip on fully paved paths.

Churches and local history

In the upper part of Nové Hamry, the late Baroque Church of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on a hill. It was built in 1789 and declared a cultural monument in 1958. Another historical landmark is a Baroque chapel in Nové Hamry, first mentioned in 1739. Together, these buildings provide concrete points of reference in the town’s history if you would like to combine nature experiences with cultural discoveries.

Active experiences for different interests

The Seifertova via ferrata at the Nové Hamry campsite comprises four secured routes with difficulty levels A, B, C and D. Routes A and B are intended primarily for children and complete beginners. The equipment required to climb the rocks can be rented at the nearby Hotel Seifert. For families with children, this clear division of the routes provides useful guidance when choosing a shared experience.

The Ruperta Fuchse educational trail is quieter and more focused on learning. The circular route is 3.5 km long and has eight stations. Its fixed length of 3.5 km helps you include this circular route in your daily plans as a clearly defined walk. Its content covers nature, history, mining, traditional crafts, tin mining and glassmaking. This allows you to combine a walk with regional topics without limiting yourself to a single sight.
