Schaub – Discover Cycling Routes and Culture
Those who choose Schaub as a travel destination and want to combine cycling with discoveries of cultural history will find various options for planning their trip in Pšov and along the routes described. Routes, trail markers and historic buildings each provide their own points of focus.
Cycling Routes and Thematic Trails
The themed one-way route Křížková cesta begins in the square in Žlutice, is marked with a logo and leads via Pšov and Močidlec to Záhořice. Along the route, 22 statues or crosses and a dovecote were restored. The established route adds a thematic trail sequence to the connections between the places.
The Toužim–Rabštejn nad Střelou cycling route connects Toužim with Rabštejn nad Střelou. It passes through Pšov, continues to the railway tracks and then onto a forest path. After the railway tracks, it gently ascends along the forest path towards Mount Vladař. This provides a route profile consisting of railway tracks, a forest path and a gentle ascent for planning purposes.
The 37 km section of National Cycling Route No. 35 from Valeč via Chyše and Žlutice to Manětín includes the Žlutice–Pšov–Manětín connection. It is moderately difficult and runs along paved roads. In addition to the route with a forest path and ascent, this offers a 37 km, moderately difficult paved connection. The differences in surface and gradient can be taken into account when planning the day's itinerary.
Three clearly distinguishable types of travel therefore emerge: a themed one-way route with restored markers, a connection with a forest path and gentle ascent, and a moderately difficult paved route.
Cultural Sites in and around Pšov
In the surroundings of Pšov, at the crossroads of the road to Kolešov and the road to Kobylé northeast of the village, there is a freely accessible sandstone statue of Saint Florian. Anton and Elisabetha Melcher had it erected in 1815. It was extensively reconstructed in 2011–2012 as part of the creation of a new educational trail.
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Pšov was built in 1914 and preserves the interior furnishings from the time of its construction. It stands in the western part of Pšov's spacious village green, directly below the bus stop. The church's location below the bus stop can serve as a reference point for orientation within the village. Thus, the year of construction, preserved interior furnishings and location within the village setting complement the historic trail markers.
Planning Your Trip around Personal Interests
