Lopeník
Lopeník offers an unusual combination of marked hiking trails, nature observation, panoramic views and regional history. At its centre is the Naučná stezka Lopeník nature trail: It is 7.3 km long, includes eight information stations and is accessible year-round. You can use it for hiking and cycling; in winter, cross-country skiing is also possible on the nature trail. This means that your stay can be planned independently of any particular season, with the specific route determining the character of the excursion.
Hiking trails with different starting points
Several precisely described options are available for choosing a route. The green-marked hiking trail from Mikulčin vrch via Lopenické sedlo, as well as Malý Lopeník and Velký Lopeník, to Staré díly is approximately 10.5 km long. A shorter, yellow-marked route leads from the U Točny bus stop via Chata Lopeník to Malý Lopeník and is approximately 5 km long. The two figures help you compare the desired starting point and the length of the hiking day as early as when planning your trip. Those travelling with different interests can thus choose between a longer route connecting several peaks and a shorter route to a specific destination.
Nature and views across the Carpathians
The stations along the nature trail also each have their own focus. At the U Zvonice stop, the plants and animals of the nature monument of the same name are presented. The observation tower stands on the 911 m-high summit of Velký Lopeník in the Bílé Karpaty. It is made of oak wood and is 22 m high. After climbing the stairs, the observation tower on the summit of Lopeník offers views of the Bílé Karpaty, Hostýnské vrchy and Vizovické vrchy, as well as the Beskydy on the Czech side. On the Slovak side, the view extends to Malá Fatra and Malé Karpaty.
Folk architecture and the history of the Moravian Kopanice
The nature trail also makes the region's culture tangible through specific stations. The well-preserved farmstead No. 141 is a remarkable testimony to the history of the Moravian Kopanice. At the listed farmstead, the Naučná stezka Lopeník presents elements of folk architecture. For your stay, you can therefore decide not only on the desired trail length, but also whether nature, panoramic views or the region's historic architecture should be the focus.
Choose the right starting point for your stay
If the observation tower is your main destination, a 4.5 km-long path leads from the Lopeník car park along the Naučná stezka Lopeník nature trail to the observation tower on Velký Lopeník. This specific access point adds another starting point to the two marked hiking trails. When looking for accommodation in Lopeník, it therefore makes sense to start planning your trip with the experience you want: First, decide whether you want to explore the nature trail in its longer form, choose a route of approximately 5 km, head for the tower or combine the nature and folk architecture stations.
