Úpoř and the Vojtěch Preissig Gallery

The Neoclassical chapel in Úpoř, a district of the municipality of Světec, dates from the second half of the 19th century. It has a gabled roof with a hipped-end section and a roof turret. Compared with the church in Světec, the chapel in Úpoř adds a Neoclassical accent within the municipality and expands the cultural selection with a second district. The Vojtěch Preissig Gallery is located in the former parish house of Světec; art openings are held in the gallery. Vojtěch Preissig was born on 31 July in Světec near Bílina. This gives travellers interested in culture access through buildings, events and a specific connection to the locality.

Cycling Route and Márinka

The Pánevní Cycling Route passes through Světec and complements the historical themes with an active way to explore the area. At the Márinka reservoir, there is an artificial sandy beach for summer recreation. The water surface of Márinka can be used for ice skating in winter. The possible experiences therefore vary by season: the sandy beach belongs to summer recreation, while ice skating depends on winter conditions. Márinka is a flooded former quarry.
