Discover Lkáň: cycle paths, history and the Rosovka

History and a single cultural monument

Lkáň is first mentioned in a document issued by King Wenceslaus I in 1237. In the 14th century, the village passed into the possession of the noble Zajíc family. The family was based at the nearby Hazmburk Castle; at the same time, Lkáň was incorporated into the Libochovice estate. In the village itself, the niche chapel is the only cultural monument in Lkáň. This allows the village’s history to be understood both through its early documentary mention and through its connection to the ownership arrangements of the time.

Cycling around Lkáň

For active days, the location at a junction of cycle routes 3118 and 3119 is particularly relevant. Both cycle routes lead to the popular Házmburk Castle. In addition, the “Lovosice–Házmburk–Lovosice” cycle loop passes through Lkáň. It is approximately 50 km long and follows a moderately difficult route. This allows you to plan around different types of tours: a connection to Házmburk Castle or a longer loop that includes Lkáň as part of the route. Lkáň has no railway station. The nearest railway stations are in Dlažkovice or in the more distant Libochovice. There are also bus stops in Lkáň and the immediate surrounding area served by route 664 between Třebívlice and Lovosice; the buses operate on weekdays.
