Vranovice

Vranovice combines a distinctive local history with a diverse landscape and various opportunities for spending holiday days together. Between a 19th-century church, historic small monuments, a protected woodland area and facilities for sport and recreation, it offers a destination that brings cultural and natural interests together. The regular wine exhibitions and traditional Hody festivals are also part of the local character.

Church, Ossuary and Historical Heritage

An important landmark in the local history is the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary. It was built between 1868 and 1870 and consecrated on 29 May 1870. The Vranovice Ossuary is a circular 17th-century building of the medieval karner type. A karner is a traditional ossuary.

Another historical stop is Boží muka at a railway crossing in Vranovice. The monument is freely accessible and belongs to a traditional Baroque roadside shrine type dating from the first half of the 19th century. A roadside shrine is a small religious monument. The statue of Saint Florian adds another element to the local history: it was erected at the site of the present-day church in 1799 and moved in 1868 to its current location in the small park in front of the primary school building. The relocation took place during the construction of the present-day church.

The historical heritage is therefore spread across different parts of the village: the church, the railway crossing with Boží muka and the small park in front of the primary school mark three distinct points of reference.

Protected Landscape in the Southeast

The Vranovický a Plačkův les area lies southeast of Vranovice. It is designated as a European protected area of community importance within the Natura 2000 network. The forest provides a habitat for numerous amphibians and birds. Its landscape includes hardwood floodplain forests, along the Šatava also fragmented softwood floodplain forests, wet alder stands, reed and tall-sedge communities, as well as pools with aquatic plants.

For you, this focus represents a distinctly different side of the village from its historic buildings: here, nature is shaped by a variety of wetland and floodplain forest habitats.

Active and Shared Holiday Days

Hlinek Park offers a children’s playground, outdoor fitness equipment and sports facilities including football goals and a basketball hoop. The football goals and basketball hoop add specific ball-game options to the playground. The outdoor fitness equipment provides a separate focus on exercise in the open air. Families can therefore combine play, exercise and sporting activities in one place.

The Bazén swimming pool in Vranovice complements these options with public swimming, swimming lessons and aquafitness. Wine exhibitions are held regularly in Vranovice, while Hody are among the village’s traditional events. In addition, the western branch of the Brněnská vinařská stezka ends behind Vranovice.
