Domašov combines marked trails, waterside landscapes and notable buildings into a destination that can be explored in a variety of ways.

Marked trails with different themes

The red-marked “K pohádce máje” hiking trail leads from the Bílý potok valley through Domašov, Říčany u Brna and Ostrovačice to the Brno Reservoir. Through Domašov, it runs between the Bílý potok valley and the Svratka valley.

A second, blue-marked route begins in Domašov and runs through the Chroustovské Valley, Zastávka u Brna, Babice and Zbýšov to Oslavany. It passes through the northern part of the Rosicko-Oslavany coalfield and focuses on the history of mining and energy supply. Those who would also like to learn about historical connections while hiking will therefore find a clear thematic focus here.

The Železná stezka leads from Domašov over a reconstructed historic bridge towards Šmelcovna. Šmelcovna is located nearby, northeast of Domašov, in the Bílý potok valley. This trail complements the two marked routes with a destination where the historic route connection and the landscape of the Bílý potok can be seen together.

Forests, Stream and Water Reservoir

Domašov is surrounded by picturesque forests. The Domašovický potok flows through the village; southeast of Domašov, there is a small water reservoir along its course. These elements give a stay a distinctly scenic setting and offer a different perspective on the village than the themed routes or historic buildings.

When choosing accommodation, you can therefore focus on different aspects: Domašov is a suitable search destination if you want marked trails to be directly connected with the village, while the surrounding area also includes forests, valleys and a small water reservoir. The bus connections are relevant for arrival and further orientation: IDS-JMK bus route 401 serves Domašov between Brno and Velká Bíteš. The local IDS-JMK bus route 410 also connects the village with Javůrek, Rudka and Litostrov.

Architectural History and Local Tradition

The history of Domašov includes several clearly dated buildings. The present Baroque appearance of the parish church dates from 1765; the church is classified as a heritage monument. The current parish house dates from 1782. The grounds of St. Lawrence Church also contain the Fortna – domek ponocného.

Another historic landmark is the administrative and residential building of the manorial estate of the Benedictines of Rajhrad, known in Domašov as Zámeček. It dates from 1720. Together with the parish church and parish house, it creates a villagescape in which different periods remain legible in specific buildings.

On 10 August, Domašov holds a pilgrimage to St. Lawrence. This date complements the trails and buildings described as year-round attractions with a local tradition tied to a fixed date in the annual calendar.
