Tvarozná Lhota: Nature, Culture and Experiences in the White Carpathians

Tvarozná Lhota combines the landscape of the White Carpathians with educational trails, viewpoints, museums and regional traditions. Around Lučina, you can discover nature and trails for active days, while wild service trees, historic houses and local festivals create a distinctive cultural character.

Lučina as a starting point for trails and cycling experiences

The artificial Lučina water reservoir lies in the White Carpathians Protected Landscape Area. Its surroundings are suitable for hiking and cycling. Blue-, yellow- and green-marked hiking trails, as well as cycle route No. 46, run around Lučina. At the local entrance to the Trail of Life, there is also a large pump track and a small skills centre. The Trail of Life includes mountain bike circuits and natural singletrack trails through the landscape of the White Carpathians. Those who want to be active by the water can choose between marked hiking trails, the cycle route and the offerings of the Trail of Life, depending on their preferred focus.

Educational trails among meadows, plants and old trees

The 15 km-long Orchidejová educational trail can begin at the Lučina recreation area. It leads through the Vojšické meadows complex and the surrounding area in the White Carpathians. Rare orchids and other protected plants grow along the trail. The length of 15 km provides a clear scale for planning the hike. The Oskorušová educational trail leads through the foothills of the White Carpathians from Tvarožná Lhota to Radějov and up Mount Žerotín; its marking is a red diagonal stripe. This marking helps you follow the route between Tvarožná Lhota, Radějov and Mount Žerotín.

Views from Rozhledna Travičná

Rozhledna Travičná stands in the cadastral area of the municipality of Tvarožná Lhota, in the location known as Vrchy. On the map, it can be found under Travičná, the summit of a 380 m-high hill. You reach the viewing platform via 177 steps; the viewpoint is at a height of 34 m. In the atrium below Rozhledna Travičná, a permanent exhibition about the nature and culture of the White Carpathians, as well as about wild service fruit trees, complements the viewpoint. This brings the landscape experience and regional themes together in one place.

Wild service trees, traditional architecture and a nature museum

The Muzeum oskeruší is dedicated to agriculture, folk architecture, as well as food and gastronomy. The museum includes the Oskorušová educational trail, with protected, magnificent wild service trees. One of them is Adamcova oskoruše, whose age is estimated at around 500 years. In the village, the listed Rolnický dům, house number 187, preserves the original layout of an earthen house from the late 18th century, with a hallway, living room and chamber.

Events throughout the year

Local cultural events in Tvarožná Lhota include the costumed Fašank in February. The Slavnost oskeruší also takes place in February. The annual Oskorušobraní is held on the third weekend of September in the Salaš Travičná grounds, where varieties of wild service fruit are presented and tasted.
