Domanín: Church, Viticulture and Local History

The Church of Saint Wenceslas, Kostel sv. Václava in Czech, was built between 1786 and 1788 and consecrated on 16 November 1788. The interior contains five paintings by Ignác Raab, including four scenes from the life of Saint Bernard. The three bells are also part of the documented furnishings; the oldest dates from 1794.

Against the backdrop of this architectural history, further details stand out in the village scene. The wooden mission cross at the entrance to the church was made in 1949. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk also stands by the church; it is a stone work by an unknown artist from 1803. The iron cross in Domanín is described as the oldest of the Domanínské kříže and bears the year 1768. Domanínský dvůr and the History of Viticulture

In September, Domanín hosts the svatováclavské krojované hody. The programme includes Recht und Kranz, a procession, a festive Mass, a festival event and subsequent Hod celebrations. Easter Monday also features the traditional pomlázková obchůzka. Alongside its historic buildings, Domanín therefore has established dates in the annual calendar that make the village accessible in different ways.

A special planning note concerns the memorial room dedicated to Libuše Domanínská. It can be opened through the municipal office.
