Žarošice combines religious tradition, vibrant customs and tangible local history. Particularly characteristic are the pilgrimage to Stará Matka Boží, the Kostel sv. Anny church, the municipal museum and several festivals held throughout the year. The most important pilgrimage date is Zlatá sobota. It takes place every year on the second Saturday in September and is Žarošice’s largest pilgrimage to Stará Matka Boží. Museum, Old Recipes and the History of Winegrowing

The Žarošice municipal museum has six permanent exhibition areas, making it suitable for a visit that brings together several aspects of local history. A particularly vivid exhibit is a screw wine press from 1805. It demonstrates the historical importance of wine processing through a tangible object, without the museum visit having to remain purely observational.

In the museum’s workshop, visitors can try making products based on old recipes themselves and taste them. This opportunity complements the exhibition with a practical and culinary experience. In August, Žarošice celebrates the dožínky harvest festival in traditional dress. The Císařské krojované hody festival follows in October. It lasts almost five days and includes the erection of a maypole, singing and dancing. Together with Zlatá sobota, this creates a calendar of events with clearly different occasions: September is dedicated to the pilgrimage, August combines harvest customs and traditional dress, while October is shaped by a festival lasting several days.

Zdravá Voda in Žarošice offers another historical dimension. Its healing springs were used for treatments over many centuries. In the 18th century, an abbess of the Old Brno convent established a bathing facility there. This aspect adds a history of bathing and spa treatments to the picture of the place, without anticipating what is possible there today.
