Construction of the Church of St Bartholomew began on 11 September 1911, based on a design by Brno architect Vladimír Fischer; the church was consecrated on 20 October 1912. Inside is a Baroque altar dating from 1716. The Chapel of St Bartholomew on Slovácká Street preserves the surviving presbytery of a Gothic church from the 14th century. Its furnishings include Baroque statues of St John of Nepomuk and St John Sarkander. The local church also houses richly embroidered chasubles, veils and antependia of particular artistic and ethnographic value. Folk art is expressed not only in ecclesiastical textiles. The traditions also include richly carved furniture with Moravian-Slovak ornaments. Rohatec also cultivates this cultural heritage through a children's folklore ensemble, as well as a men's choir and a mixed choir. As a result, music, crafts and regional forms of expression take their place alongside the landscape and activities.
